Magical Murals
I believe art speaks an international language, and is one of the most effective cultural ambassadors in the world today. As a collaborative muralist, I lead occasional mural projects around the world that celebrate the natural world and world cultures.
Engaging young people and communities in mural projects is one of my greatest joys. Since 1995, I have led more than sixty indoor and outdoor murals, including four international projects in El Salvador, Ecuador, and two communities in Mexico. Currently, I am seeking large walls (a minimum of 200' in width), enthusiastic painters, and grants to paint collaborative school or community murals, with the theme "Birds Know No Boundaries." The intention of these murals is to inspire their painters and viewers to recognize that birds from all over the world fly freely across the borders of countries—regardless of our human political boundaries. Perhaps migrating birds can show us the way, acting as metaphors for peace, and reminding us to live more peacefully with our neighboring countries, cultures, and citizens.
